Reinforced 16V VITON unit injector seals for 2.0 TDI engines
High-quality FKM/FPM seals for compatible 16V 2.0 TDI engines with BOSCH unit injectors
Reinforced unit injector seals made from VITON / FKM / FPM for compatible 16V 2.0 TDI unit injector engines from the Volkswagen Group with BOSCH unit injector assemblies. Designed as a high-quality addition for PDE repairs, engine overhauls and work on unit injectors — particularly in combination with the ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PD injector bridge.
High-quality sealing material for demanding applications in the engine sector.
For a more robust seal on the unit injector.
For compatible 16V 2.0 TDI pump-jet TDI engines with BOSCH PDEs.
Specifically designed as a sealing supplement to the ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PD injector bridge.
Why unit injector seals are so important for 16V 2.0 TDI engines.
In 16V 2.0 TDI unit injector engines, the unit injectors are mounted directly in the cylinder head. Sealing is achieved via sealing rings on the PD injector. If these seals become brittle, damaged or subjected to one-sided stress due to movement of the PD injectors, the seal may deteriorate.
This can result in typical PDE problems: starting difficulties, rough engine running, jerking, loss of power, diesel in the engine oil or rising oil level. For this reason, unit injector seals should not be reused when working on BOSCH unit injectors, but should always be replaced.
These symptoms may indicate leaking or mechanically stressed 16V PDEs
Many customers initially search for symptoms rather than unit injector seals. Even in 16V 2.0 TDI unit injector engines, leaking or poorly seated unit injectors can cause a variety of problems.
The engine is harder to start in the morning, after a long period of inactivity or when the engine is warm. It often takes longer to get the TDI running smoothly.
The engine runs roughly, shakes at idle or responds unevenly whilst driving. A faulty PD injector seal can affect the injection process.
If the seal on the unit injector is no longer functioning properly, this can be noticeable in the car’s performance: reduced power, sluggish acceleration or uneven acceleration.
If the oil level appears to be rising or the engine oil smells of diesel, fuel may be entering the engine oil. This is critical for the bearings, camshaft, turbocharger and engine lubrication.
Diesel in the engine oil is a serious warning sign. If the oil becomes diluted, its lubricating properties are reduced — and this increases the risk of costly consequential damage.
If seals have already been replaced and the problems recur after a short time, the cause often lies not solely with the seal itself, but with the mechanical condition of the PDE injector seat.
What the reinforced 16V VITON unit injector seals do
The reinforced VITON unit injector seals replace the old sealing rings on the unit injector and ensure a better seal around the unit injector seat. They are recommended when BOSCH unit injectors are being removed as part of a repair, overhaul or diagnostic check.
Reinforced seals alone do not provide a permanent solution to the PDE problem
Reinforced VITON unit injector seals are a key component of a professional unit injector repair. However: they do not eliminate the actual mechanical cause of the problem. If the unit injectors continue to operate within the cylinder head, tilt or wear into the sealing surfaces, even new and reinforced seals will come under strain again.
If only new unit injector seals are fitted without mechanically stabilising the unit injector units, the underlying cause will persist. The PDE units can continue to operate and place one-sided stress on the seals once again. In practice, this can mean that the repair lasts for only a few thousand kilometres — after which starting problems, rising oil level, diesel in the oil or leaks reoccur.
A sustainable solution is only achieved with mechanical 16V PD injector fastening
A truly sustainable solution therefore only emerges when the system is considered as a whole: the reinforced VITON unit injector seals provide the seal. The ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PD injector bridge also provides additional mechanical stabilisation for the BOSCH unit injector units. It is precisely this combination that prevents the new seals from being overloaded again by mechanically stressed PD injectors.
Stabilises compatible BOSCH unit injectors in 16V 2.0 TDI engines. This ensures the PDEs remain more precisely positioned, allowing the seals to operate more effectively over the long term.
Complement the mechanical fastening with a larger contact surface, robust VITON material and improved sealing around the unit injectors.
The combination of a new seal and mechanical PDE stabilisation tackles both the cause and the symptom simultaneously — ensuring a significantly more durable repair.
The engine code letter, vehicle data and the fitted PDE/injector number are decisive. Common-rail engines, 8V PDE variants and Siemens/piezo PD injectors are not covered by this application range.
Clear recommendation from 07eins:
Reinforced VITON unit injector seals should not be regarded as the sole long-term solution. If the unit injectors are operating within the cylinder head, tilting or subjecting the seals to recurring stress, a suitable mechanical fixing should also be used — for compatible 16V 2.0 TDI engines, this is the ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PD injector bridge.
Why unit injector seals should always be replaced during a 16V engine overhaul
Once unit injectors have been removed, the seals should not be reused. The old sealing rings have already been subjected to thermal stress, fuel contact, pressure, movement and ageing. Reuse can significantly compromise the reliability of the repair.
Over time, seals lose their elasticity due to age, temperature and contact with fuel. This reduces their sealing performance.
When removing the unit injectors, seal rings may also be damaged or deformed. They should therefore always be replaced.
A poor seal can lead to starting problems, diesel in the oil, rising oil level and consequential damage.
If the PDEs are accessible anyway, replacing the seals is a sensible step towards a proper repair.
Why VITON / FKM / FPM?
VITON is a high-quality fluorocarbon rubber sealing material, also known in technical circles as FKM or FPM. It is used in applications where seals are permanently exposed to high stresses caused by temperature, fuel, oil and chemical influences.
What applications are the seals designed for?
The reinforced unit injector seals are designed for use on compatible BOSCH unit injectors and are suitable as part of a comprehensive 16V PDE repair.
Compatibility for 16V 2.0 TDI with BOSCH PDEs
These seals are intended for use on compatible 16V 2.0 TDI pump-jet TDI engines with unit injectors. The specific PDE injector variant fitted, the PDE/injector number, the engine code letter and the vehicle specifications are decisive.
The following numbers refer to the fitted BOSCH unit injector or the pump-nozzle injector. They are not part numbers for the 16V PD injector bridge, but are used to identify the correct PD injector variant.

Common-rail engines, 8V PD injector variants and Siemens/piezo PD injectors are not compatible. If your engine code letter is not listed, your engine may still be affected — in this case, please have your vehicle data, engine code letter and PDE number checked.

Important note on performance and compatibility
The reinforced VITON unit injector seals are a high-quality component of a unit injector repair, but do not replace the mechanical stabilisation of stressed or misaligned unit injectors.
If the PD injectors are already operating within the cylinder head, tilting or wearing into the sealing surfaces, a suitable mechanical retention system should also be fitted — for compatible 16V 2.0 TDI engines, use the ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PD injector bridge.
Common-rail engines, 8V PD injector variants and Siemens/piezo PD injectors are not covered by this application range. Before ordering, the engine code, vehicle data and PD injector/injector number should be checked.
Any installation costs, dismantling costs, consumables, diagnostic costs and other associated costs are always borne by the customer and will not be reimbursed.
Buy reinforced 16V VITON unit injector seals — but use them correctly.
The reinforced unit injector seals provide a sensible sealing solution for work on unit injector units. For a long-term solution to the well-known PDE injector problem in compatible 16V 2.0 TDI engines, 07eins recommends combining them with mechanical PDE fixation using the ORIGINAL 07eins 16V PDE injector bridge.
