A rough idle. Poorer starting. Juddering. Less power. A rising oil level. At first, this seems like a normal sign of ageing. In fact, the cause may lie deeper: at the unit injector itself.

Symptoms you may notice too
Many drivers initially search not for PD injector retainers but for the symptoms: poor starting, juddering, loss of power or a rising oil level. These are precisely the signs that can occur in TDI engines with unit injectors when the unit injectors are no longer seated properly in the cylinder head, move slightly or their seals no longer seal reliably.
The engine is harder to start than before — especially when cold, warm or after a long period of standing. It often needs prolonged cranking before the TDI runs properly.

The oil level appears to rise or the engine oil smells of diesel. The cause may be diesel in the engine oil — a risk to the bearings, camshaft, turbocharger and engine lubrication in general.
The seals have already been replaced, yet the symptoms return. In that case, the cause often lies not just in the seal itself but in the mechanical seating of the PD injector.
If a PD injector moves during operation, the seat and sealing surfaces can be subjected to further stress. Mechanical stabilisation and the existing damage condition should therefore be assessed together.

PDE body supports provide additional stabilisation for the body of each unit injector in the cylinder head. This reduces movement and relieves stress on the seal at the PDE seat. They are also referred to as PDE repair supports on the market. The individual supports also allow suitable solutions for engine designs where there is no room for the classic PDE bridge.
For which engines are PD injector retainers available?
PD injector retainers are available in versions suitable for VAG unit injector engines with 3, 4, 5 or 10 cylinders.
