When the engine is running, mechanical stress on various components can cause fine wear particles to form. Magnetizable particles made of iron or steel can be carried along with the engine oil through the oil circulation system.
The integrated neodymium magnet attracts these ferromagnetic particles and holds them in place at the oil drain plug. Once trapped, the wear particles can no longer circulate freely in the engine oil.
The magnetic oil drain plug supplements the regular oil filtration system with an additional passive separation mechanism. It does not replace either the engine oil filter or the prescribed oil change intervals.

Passive wear monitoring
An additional indicator of the condition of mechanical engine components.
The magnetic oil drain plug allows for a direct visual inspection during every oil change. This makes it possible to distinguish between a fine film of wear debris and conspicuous, coarser metal particles.
An unusually heavy buildup or visible metal shavings does not constitute a definitive diagnosis. However, they can be an important indication that the engine or the oil system should be professionally inspected.
Inspect the magnet tip Carefully inspect the magnet tip for fine abrasion particles and coarser particles when removing it.
Remove metal abrasion Completely remove any adhered residue from the magnet and the screw body.
Inspect the component Check the screw, magnet, threads, and sealing surface for damage.
Have any noticeable metal shavings examined If there are larger metal particles or unusually heavy wear, have the cause professionally investigated.

Important technical note
The magnet captures only magnetizable particles.
In particular, it captures ferromagnetic residues made of iron and steel.
Non-magnetic residues such as aluminum, copper, or brass abrasion, as well as soot, dirt, and sealant residues, are not captured by the magnet.
The magnetic oil drain plug supplements regular oil filtration but does not replace the engine oil filter, regular oil changes, or a professional engine diagnosis.
Proper Installation
Note the part number, thread type, and tightening torque.
- Before ordering, compare the thread, dimensions, and part number.
- Clean the oil pan thread and check for damage.
- Install the oil drain plug with a suitable, undamaged O-ring.
- Follow the specified tightening torque provided by the vehicle or oil pan manufacturer.
- Do not tighten the aluminum oil drain plug beyond the specified torque.
- After installation, filling, and running the engine, check the oil pan for leaks.
