Why unit injector seals are so important for TDI engines.
In pump-jet TDI engines with unit injectors, the unit injectors are located directly in the cylinder head. Sealing is achieved via sealing rings on the unit injectors. If these seals become brittle, damaged, or subjected to one-sided stress due to movement of the unit injectors, the seal may deteriorate.
This can lead to typical PDE problems: starting difficulties, rough engine running, jerking, loss of power, diesel in the engine oil, or rising oil level. This is precisely why unit injector seals should not simply be reused when working on the unit injectors, but should be consistently replaced.
These symptoms may indicate leaking or migrating PDEs
Many customers initially look for symptoms rather than unit injector seals. Especially in older pump-jet TDI engines with unit injectors, leaking or poorly seated unit injectors can cause various problems.
The engine starts poorly in the morning, after sitting for a long time, or even when warm. Often, it takes more cranking before the TDI runs smoothly.
The engine runs rough, shakes at idle, or responds unevenly while driving. A faulty PDE seal can affect the injection process.
If the seal on the unit injector is no longer functioning properly, this can be noticeable in the vehicle’s performance: reduced power, sluggish acceleration, or uneven acceleration.
If the oil level appears to be rising or the engine oil smells like diesel, fuel may be entering the engine oil. This is critical for the bearings, camshaft, turbocharger, and engine lubrication.
Diesel in the engine oil is a serious warning sign. If the oil is diluted, its lubricating properties decrease—and with that, the risk of costly consequential damage increases.
If seals have already been replaced and the problems recur shortly thereafter, the cause is often not solely the seal itself, but rather the mechanical condition of the PDE seat.
What the reinforced VITON unit injector seals do

Reinforced gaskets alone do not permanently solve the PDE problem

If the unit injectors continue to shift, tilt, or wear into the sealing surfaces in the cylinder head, even new and reinforced gaskets will be stressed again.
If only new unit injector seals are installed without mechanically stabilizing the unit injectors, the root cause remains. The PDEs can continue to move and place one-sided stress on the seals again. In practice, this can mean: The repair lasts only a few thousand kilometers—then starting problems, rising oil level, diesel in the oil, or leaks reoccur.
A lasting solution is only achieved with mechanical PDE fixation
The truly effective, long-term solution therefore lies in the system: The reinforced VITON unit injector seals handle the sealing. The ORIGINAL 07eins PD injector bridge or the ORIGINAL 07eins PD injector retainer additionally mechanically stabilizes the unit injectors. It is precisely this combination that prevents the new seals from being overloaded again by migrating PDEs.

Only in this way is the PDE problem addressed sustainably, and the repair has a chance of providing lasting peace of mind.
Why unit injector seals should always be replaced during an engine overhaul
Once unit injectors are removed, the gaskets should not be reused. The old gaskets have already been exposed to thermal stress, fuel contact, pressure, movement, and aging. Reusing them can significantly compromise the reliability of the repair.
Over time, seals lose their elasticity due to age, temperature, and fuel contact. This reduces their sealing effectiveness.
When removing the unit injectors, sealing rings can be further damaged or deformed. Therefore, they should always be replaced.
Poor sealing can lead to starting problems, diesel in the oil, rising oil level, and consequential damage.

ich bin unglaublich zufrieden mit den neuen Dichtungen. Diese haben tatsächlich das Problem mit den undichten PD-Elementen vorerst gelöst.
Wenn der Wagen wieder komplett hergerichtet ist, werden noch die speziellen Halter mit verbaut werden.
Weiterhin hat man einen unglaublich guten Ansprechpartner, der am Telefon wie auch per Mail immer sehr gut verständlich, freundlich und hilfsbereit Auskunft gibt.
