OELMETRIK measures the engine-oil temperature directly inside the dipstick tube and wirelessly transmits the measured values via Bluetooth Low Energy to an AMOLED Touch display in the vehicle interior. The display plugs directly into the 12 V vehicle socket and requires no additional power components thanks to its integrated voltage converter.

Coolant temperature is not engine-oil temperature.
Many vehicles display only the coolant temperature as standard. However, the coolant often reaches its operating temperature considerably earlier than the engine oil. Relying solely on a 90 °C coolant reading may expose the engine to high loads even though the oil has not yet reached its optimum temperature range.
OELMETRIK displays the actual engine-oil temperature directly in the cockpit. This makes it easier to determine when the engine is genuinely warm, when higher loads are appropriate and how short trips, motorway driving, trailer operation, inclines or sporty driving affect the oil’s thermal load.

Why engine-oil temperature is so important
Engine-oil temperature has a decisive influence on wear, service life and the operational reliability of a combustion engine. The oil must be warm enough to provide optimum lubrication. At the same time, it must not remain excessively hot for extended periods under high load.
The problem with the misleading 90 °C reading
Coolant reaches its operating temperature far more quickly than engine oil. In practice, the oil may still be 20–30 °C colder even though the coolant gauge already displays 90 °C.
The consequences in everyday use
High loads with cold oil, frequent short journeys, trailer operation or sporty driving may impair lubrication and increase mechanical wear.
Tip: use the oil temperature as the basis for correctly warming up the engine, managing load phases and selecting an oil viscosity that suits your driving profile.

The compact display unit plugs directly into the vehicle’s 12 V socket. The voltage converter is integrated into the display mount, so no additional adapter or separate power cable is required inside the vehicle.

Plug the display into the 12 V vehicle socket, adjust it to the required viewing angle and the system is ready for use.

Installation in a few simple steps
- Replace the vehicle’s original oil dipstick with the OELMETRIK sensor dipstick. Its length can be adjusted universally by hand.
- Use the supplied sealing rings to adapt the sensor dipstick to the diameter of the dipstick tube and ensure that the tube is properly sealed.
- Position the OELMETRIK sensor module inside the engine compartment and secure it using the supplied straps.
- Connect the sensor module’s black cable directly to the battery’s negative terminal or to a suitable chassis ground point.
- Connect the red cable directly to the battery’s positive terminal. No connection to an ignition-switched positive supply is required.
- Insert the AMOLED Touch display into the vehicle’s 12 V socket. The system establishes the connection and performs its calibration automatically.
Checking the oil level: continue to use the vehicle’s original dipstick for an accurate oil-level check.
