Many vehicles only display the coolant temperature as standard. Coolant often reaches its operating temperature significantly earlier than the engine oil. Anyone relying solely on the 90 °C coolant display may place the engine under load even though the oil has not yet reached its optimum operating temperature.
OELMETRIK shows you the actual engine oil temperature directly in the cockpit. This allows you to identify more accurately when your engine is genuinely warm, when high load is appropriate and how strongly short journeys, motorway driving, trailer operation, gradients or sporty driving thermally affect the oil.

Why oil temperature is crucial
Engine oil temperature is a decisive factor for wear, service life and the operational reliability of a combustion engine. The oil must be warm enough to lubricate optimally, but it must also not remain excessively hot under load.
The problem with the misleading 90 °C display
Coolant reaches its operating temperature much faster than engine oil. In practice, the oil may still be 20–30 °C cooler even though the display already shows a coolant temperature of 90 °C.
The consequences in everyday driving
High load with cold oil, frequent short journeys, trailer operation or sporty driving can impair lubrication and increase wear.
Tip: Use the oil temperature as a basis for warming up the engine, managing load phases and selecting the appropriate oil viscosity for your driving profile.

Installation in just a few steps
- Replace the original oil dipstick with the OELMETRIK sensor dipstick. Its length can be adjusted universally by hand. Use the supplied sealing rings to seal the dipstick tube correctly.
- Position the OELMETRIK sensor module in the engine compartment and secure it using the supplied straps.
- Connect the black cable of the sensor module directly to the negative battery terminal or to a suitable ground point.
- Connect the red cable of the sensor module directly to the positive battery terminal. No connection to the ignition is required.
- Insert the display power supply into the 12V socket. The system connects and calibrates itself automatically.
Note on checking the oil level: Continue to use the original dipstick for precise oil-level measurement.

Do I need to connect the system to ignition-positive or the CAN bus?

Can I display my own logo?

Thomas Turowski DAS ist endlich die Lösung für alle, die keine Öltemperaturanzeige verbaut haben. Ich habe einen SL500, d.h. 8 Liter Öl, aber leider ist die Anzeige nur im AMG verbaut.
Das erste Paket war fehlerhaft, aber ich bekam - total überraschend und nciht von mir erwartet - am Sonntagabend schon eine Antwort und eine Ersatzlieferung.
