Aluminium PD injector bridge: Stress-free securing is better than rigid securing
The 07eins PD injector bridge consists of an aluminium cross-member and tool steel retainers to protect the unit injector diesel engine for the long term without introducing stress. Stress-free PD injector fixation is essential because of the TDI engine's manufacturing tolerances, to prevent engine damage caused by stress on the PD injectors. Based on our many years of development work, we cannot recommend rigid PD injector bridges, such as one-piece tool steel PD injector bridges, to our customers, because these rigid PD injector bridges cannot compensate for manufacturing tolerances.
Why the right PD injector bridge matters – stress-free fixation, lasting protection
Manufacturing tolerances in the TDI engine – a technical reality in the cylinder head
When developing and repairing VW T5 2.5 TDI engines, many workshops and engine builders face a familiar problem: The unit injectors (PD injectors) sit in the cylinder head at slightly different heights.

These slight differences arise from manufacturing tolerances in the cylinder head casting and the machining of the PD injector bores. In practice, this means:
- Some injectors sit slightly higher,
- others a little lower in their seats.

To compensate for these differences, the PD injector rocker arms are fitted with adjustment screws. These allow each height difference to be compensated for individually – an important step in ensuring proper injection function.

The challenge of securing PD injector bridges
When the PD injectors are connected by a PD injector bridge, the question is:
How do you accommodate the injectors' different heights?

If a one-piece, rigid tool steel PD injector bridge were fitted, even small differences in installed height could have negative effects:
- The PD injector bridge would no longer sit without stress.
- Higher injectors would create local pressure, while lower ones would have no secure contact.
- This would create stresses, which could be transmitted to the connecting brackets, injectors and cylinder head itself.

Our tests with rigid PD injector bridge variants – both one-piece designs and different materials – have shown that these conditions can cause stress cracks over the long term in the cylinder head. A solution was needed to meet the specific requirements of these engines.
Our solution: the 07eins aluminium PD injector bridge
Drawing on intensive development work, we designed a PD injector bridge that actively addresses these challenges:
Our solution uses a carefully chosen aluminium alloy, which combines defined elasticity and high stability at the same time.

The benefits:
- The bridge actively compensates for manufacturing tolerances, without transferring unnecessary forces to the injectors or cylinder head.
- The bridge distributes the clamping forces evenly across all PD injectors, rather than building up pressure at individual points.
- It provides low-stress, long-lasting support, even when the PD injectors are not perfectly aligned.
- Even with slight differences in height, it continues to guide and secure the injectors properly.

Particularly important:
Even with less-than-ideal cylinder head geometry – where PD injectors sit slightly lower and do not make full contact – fixation remains significantly better than with the standard clamping shoe solution. This is because our bridge transfers the forces vertically through guided brackets – rather than at an angle through tilting clamping shoes, as in the standard configuration.

For special cases: the 07eins PD injector retainer

In extreme cases, with a particularly unfavourable combination of tolerances, we also offer our PD injector retainers. These are fitted directly to each individual PD injector and work independently of neighbouring injectors.

The benefit:
Even with very large differences in height, the injector is supported and guided directly and precisely against the machined wall surface of the cylinder head – without transferring stress to other components.

Conclusion: flexibility where it matters
Our experience from countless applications and tests shows:
A PD injector bridge does not need to be as rigid as possible – it needs to adapt to the reality of the TDI engine.
By choosing the original 07eins PD injector bridge, you are choosing a technically well-designed, field-proven solution, which protects both the cylinder head and the injectors – for the long term, reliably and without stress cracks.
